Creating a cohesive design approach to position Yama’s technology for gigaton-scale carbon removal.

Yama Carbon develops direct air capture (DAC) technology aiming for gigaton-scale carbon removal. By combining advanced electrochemical techniques with energy-efficient processes, Yama drastically reduces resource use—energy, water, and land—to offer measurable, sustainable carbon credits and accessible CO₂ removal.

Our collaboration began with strategic workshops alongside Yama's R&D team, focusing on clearly positioning their technology within the competitive landscape. We created a visual identity inspired by carbon's molecular structure, translating their innovative filtration process into an iconic graphic concept emphasizing technological leadership and ecological transition.

The narrative "A Future Beyond Zero" frames their ambition clearly: going beyond offsetting emissions toward achieving negative emissions at scale. Our work also defined layouts for Yama’s pilot and First-of-a-Kind plants, strategically integrating absorption, desorption, and heat pump units. Each layout balances industrial efficiency, replicability, and innovation, marked by symmetrical, minimalist patterns of air contactors that visually set Yama apart.

Our design approach highlights non-intrusive integration into natural environments, establishing Yama as a pioneer in impactful, scalable carbon capture solutions.
